Changes to the ‘pregnancy register’. The Ministry of Health has published a draft amendment to the regulation on the Medical Information System, commonly known as the ‘pregnancy register’. Premiere of the Contraception Policy Atlas 2024The European Parliamentary Forum for Sexual and Reproductive Rights (EPF) has presented the latest edition of the Contraception Policy Atlas, a pan-European ranking of countries in terms of access to contraception. On 26 July 2023 Wysokie Obcasy published an article on Ola, another victim of anti-abortion obsession and institutional violence against women in need of reproductive care in Poland. The review of Poland under the Fourth cycle of the Universal Periodic Review was held on 15 November 2022 by the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review. Two days after the Working Group adopted the report on Poland containing 433 recommendations to improve the protection of human rights as regards its full spectrum covered by the international human rights treaties. FEDERA TWO YEARS AFTER THE ABORTION BAN

Two years have passed since the illegitimate Constitutional Court’s ruling on abortion. On 22 October 2020, Polish flowed Constitutional Tribunal ruled that terminating a pregnancy in the case of severe fetal abnormalities is unconstitutional. The latest Onet poll shows that 70% of Polish women and men do not support these shameful changes. Only 9% view the ruling well. FEDERA’S STATEMENT ON THE CASE OF MARINA, WHO HAD A STILLBIRTH AT 33 WEEKS PREGNANT

Marina Jaworska, a Ukrainian who has been living in Poland for two years, was 17 weeks pregnant. During the ultrasound examination, the doctor – a well-known Warsaw gynecologist – told her that she would most likely give birth to a girl. Marta was admitted to a hospital in Katowice, Silesian Voivodeship in the 20th week of her longed-for pregnancy, with abdominal pain. Three days later, she was dead. On 27 May 2020 on the session of the Parliamentary Commission on Health the amendment introducing the referral obligation to the government draft bill on the doctors’ and dentists’ professions has been deleted. The draft bill without the referral obligation passed the 3rd reading in the Polish Sejm and was sent to the Senate for adoption (or deletion of amendments). Limiting availability of contraception – proceeding a draft law on conscience clause for pharmacists

The Polish Bureau of Research (BAS) has positively evaluated a draft law that would introduce conscience clause for pharmacists and owners of drug stores. Poland limits access to emergency contraception

Polish Government to Limit Access to the Morning-After Pill

Polish women went on strike and stopped – for now – proceedings on the anti-abortion bill

On Friday, September 23rd, the Polish Sejm sent to further proceedings draft legislation aiming to introduce a total ban on abortion and criminalize women for terminating pregnancies with up to 5 years of prison.
